Server based system health checks & audits

checks & audits typically require a single day of data collection
followed by an additional day of corrective technical consultancy

development of a web-based support system. In many organizations
telephone based support is administered by non-technical personnel
who log the call and pass on information to a qualified technical
consultant. Experience tells us that in these situations it
is quite common to encounter the "Chinese whisper"
effect, where all the relevant technical information is not
obtained or has got lost in the message relay process. Ultimately
this ends up with the customer having to explain again the fault
to a consultant before any progress is made.
Web based support offers a direct link to one
of our Oracle Databases Certified Administrators providing near instant
email confirmation that the call has been logged with Data Migrations Ltd support and a relevant log number attached. Customers are
able to view the progress of their call through a personalized SSL 128 bit encrypted area providing information such as; which
consultant the call has been assigned to, whether the call has
been escalated to Oracle Databases or Microsoft, how long the call has
been open, a resolution to the call with historical knowledge
base.
Our Web based support contract allows you unlimited
web based access to our consultants. Typically customers who
purchase this kind of support have a person or team that are
responsible for the day-to-day administration of their IT infrastructure.
They are conversant with most basic admin duties such as printer/drive
mapping and only need to call when an issue arises to which
they have no knowledge. On-site support is available and charged
on an hourly basis.
In addition to the unlimited web based support described above,
we can offer on-site technical assistance days. At the time
of implementation the number of days can be agreed with you
and those days can be used for any IT support issue or system
enhancement, for example, we may attend site to carry out a
preventative maintenance visit, installing the latest service
releases of products and generally inspecting the systems for
problems that could arise. Alternatively a
new product could be released by Oracle Databases and you may want to
use a technical day to install the product.
Finally, this type of support allows your company
to budget, the unpredictability of IT costs is one we have all
experienced!
What is your typical strategy for tuning an installation?
A: Our strategy will depend on your circumstances.
However, we typically gather a number of key performance
measurements, both at system and database level. These are used
in conjunction with user and support staff testimony (where
available and appropriate) to identify the main high-level
bottlenecks. We then drill down using custom scripts and
standard tools to identify the sources of these bottlenecks,
before devising solutions to eliminate them.
Q: A specific part of our application is performing particularly
badly. Can you fix it?
A: We will always concentrate first on tuning any
functionality identified by the client as causing most problems.
In the vast majority of cases you will see a marked performance
improvement in those areas when we have finished.
Q: If you find inefficient code in our applications, can you
rewrite it?
A: If the code is stored within the database as PL/SQL,
we can amend the code on request (but you should check the
support implications for 3rd party products). We will not amend
client-side code, but will document inefficiencies so that you
can report these to your application vendor for amendment.
Q: Do you provide warranties for any amendments done?
A: We provide two weeks of free remote support for any
work done.
Q: When can we expect documentation for the tasks performed?
A: We typically write up the tasks performed within one
week of the tuning exercise. You are guaranteed to have a
hard-copy of the documentation within two weeks of work
completion.
Q: We require an installation to be tuned for our clients. Do
you offer resales/subcontracts?
A: Yes. We can rebadge our services, or can pay a one-off
commission.

for production?
A: Yes, this is one of our more commonly-requested
